Wow, it's been almost ten years since I've posted anything to this blog. That's a really, really long time. I've been posting over on Tumblr in the meantime, but with the coming death of that platform I figure it's time to revive this baby.
Over the last decade not only has my cooking changed pretty radically, the entire landscape of food has changed. I still cook like a mad fiend, but I have a lot more skill and many more tools in my bag. This blog is going to chronicle my adventures in cooking and baking, just as it did before. You can expect weeknight dinner shortcuts, weekend project cooking, and a pretty massive amount of baking.
These days my cooking consists of a lot of low-carb weeknight dinners, instant pot and sous vide cooking, as well as a lot of weekend baking of bread, pastries, cookies, and cakes. I try to cook proper dinner at least twice a week and to bake once a week. I define "proper dinner" as a meal with at least a main and a side that requires more cooking than just mixing and heating - and usually includes chopping an onion.
I'll be talking about my full recipe cooking here and posting everyday things over on Instagram where you can find me as @emilycarlin6. I hope you'll enjoy following along with my culinary adventures :)
Last night's dinner consisted of sauteed onions, poblanos, red bell peppers, and skirt steak on a bed of seasoned black beans. Yummy stuff!
